327th Chronological History

This site is dedicated to the men that flew with the 327th Bomb Squadron 92nd Bomb Group 8th USAAF...

The records are a chronological archive taken from
"The Official USAAF Chronological Database"

I have tried to pull records that would pertain to the 327th in particular... Other records have been included as a time and action reference...

As you Read these records keep in mind that these were young men, in the prime of their lives. Late teens through their late 30's... Men with Families, Girl friends, Wives, Children, Mothers and Fathers, Sisters and Brothers... The loss of one Aircraft personally changed the lives of hundreds of people...Forever!

It is easy to become somewhat calloused reading WWII data... Numbers cannot relate the emotional impact that was involved with each loss. Keep in mind that a B-17 was manned with a 10 man crew. In the course of the war the 92nd Bomb Group lost a total of 291 B-17s... 71 of these lost belonged to the 327th... 28 are not identified to any particular squadron. That's 2,910 young men that made a sacrifice for us that we can never repay... In all the USAAF lost approximately 28,000 airmen in WWII...

Most of these Photographs are of the 92nd Bomb Group in WWII...
Some are of the 327th Squadron... Others are of other groups....
These will be replaced with Actual Photos of the 92nd as they become available...

When completed this section will detail every
month of action in the ETO During WWII
